Interference Test
Detect stripes, waves or other signal interference with printable patterns.
Watch for moiré, streaks or related interference. Arrow keys switch patterns. a total of 4 steps
- Click the right half of the screen to move to the next view; when the current project’s views are done it advances to the next project, and when every project is finished it exits fullscreen automatically.
- Click the left half of the screen to go back to the previous view; at the very first view it stops.
- After entering fullscreen, the top label and bottom buttons auto-hide after 3 seconds so you can view the screen unobstructed.
- Hover in the bottom-centre of the screen for 1 second to bring the label and buttons back; move away and they hide again after 1 second.
- The breathing test ends automatically after about 10 seconds.
Interference & moiré detection
This test uses checkerboards, horizontal/vertical lines and grids to expose display faults. Such patterns effectively reveal signal interference, panel defects and driver-chip problems.
Common interference types:
- Moiré pattern: interference fringes where two repeating patterns overlap, possible when fine patterns are shown.
- Signal striping: horizontal or vertical stripes from a loose cable or electromagnetic interference.
- Panel flicker: can come from a PWM frequency that’s too low or a driving-circuit problem.
Troubleshooting tips:
- If you see stripes, try another cable (HDMI/DP) to rule out cabling.
- Check that your GPU driver is current.
- Make sure the screen runs its native resolution and recommended refresh rate.

What is moiré?
Moiré is interference fringes where two repeating patterns overlap. It can appear when fine patterns (like checkerboards or fine grids) are displayed, and usually relates to the panel’s pixel layout or signal processing.
Does striping mean my monitor is broken?
Not necessarily. Horizontal or vertical stripes can also come from a loose cable, electromagnetic interference or a GPU driver issue. Try a different cable (HDMI/DP) and port first to rule those out.
How do I pin down the source?
Test the checker, horizontal-line, vertical-line and grid patterns here one by one. If only a specific pattern misbehaves, it’s usually the panel or driver; if all patterns look blurry or broken, check cable and port first.
How do I troubleshoot a flickering panel?
Flicker can come from a PWM frequency that’s too low or a driving-circuit problem. Turn off the monitor’s adaptive brightness and re-test; if it keeps flickering, update the GPU driver and try another cable.
