How to test
Hold the left button and draw circles, straight lines or other shapes at a steady speed. A continuous, clean trail means good tracking; obvious jagged steps, breaks or jumps may signal a sensor problem or low polling rate.
What affects smoothness
Sensor type: flagship optical sensors offer higher tracking precision. Polling rate: more samples per second means a smoother trail. Mousepad surface: different materials track differently — cloth pads are usually the most stable. LOD: an overly high lift-off distance can add stray cursor movement.
How to improve it
Keep the polling rate at 1000 Hz or higher. Use a quality mousepad and keep it clean. Clean the sensor window under the mouse regularly. Calibrate LOD and angle-snapping in the mouse driver.
