About the CPS test

CPS (clicks per second) is the key measure of mouse clicking speed — critical for Minecraft PvP, Osu! players and any high-frequency esports scene. Your CPS depends on more than finger speed; switch type, actuation force and travel all play a part.

How it works

Press “Start test” and the countdown begins. Click as fast as you can inside the test area; the tool counts every press in real time and derives your CPS.

CPS level reference

1–4 beginner; 5–8 average for most users; 9–12 skilled players using Jitter Click; 13–16 expert, mastered Butterfly Click; 16+ world-class, typically Drag Click.

Tips to raise your CPS

Jitter Click: vibrate your arm muscles for ~10–14 CPS. Butterfly Click: alternate two fingers over the same button for ~15–20 CPS. Drag Click: drag your finger over the button and let friction fire it for 25+ CPS (needs a suitable mouse). Also pick a switch with light actuation and fast rebound.

FAQ

What CPS is normal?

Most people click at about 5–8 CPS in daily use. Skilled players using Jitter/Butterfly techniques reach 10–16 CPS; the very best use Drag Click for 25+ CPS (with a suitable mouse).

Why can’t my mouse click faster?

CPS depends on more than finger speed — switch actuation force, travel and rebound all matter. A light, fast-returning switch (like the Kailh GM 8.0 or TTC gold) helps high-frequency clicking.

Will rapid clicking look like a double-click fault?

It can. The double-click test flags presses closer than its 50 ms threshold, and deliberate fast clicking (e.g. Butterfly) lands there. Use them for different purposes: double-click test to diagnose hardware, CPS test to challenge your speed.
